THE WWII EXPERIENCE

an immersive aviation experience

Hope From Above provides the WW2 flying experience to terminally ill children as well as those with disabilities who have always admired flying and wanted to be a pilot. Set up by the pilots and crew of Hope From Above, we are dedicated to providing the most memorable experience to all young aspiring pilots.

What is the WWII experience?

The WWII experience is run by the main pilots, who, in the mission, take on the characters of their animal avatars. The pilot characters are comprised of the wolf, bear, lion, tiger, elephant, hawk, and owl. The pilot child can select their favorite animal or which animal they would like to fly with.

Hope From Above partners with various non-profit institutions, including Make-A-Wish, United Way, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital, in order to provide the pilot experience to as many children as possible.

The WWII experience sets up the child pilot with a pilot from Hope From Above as their wingman. Two months prior to running the mission, the child meets their favorite animal avatar pilot as part of general introductions and bonding. During this period, the two pilots discuss the mission and go over the mission success criteria. All health, logistical, and operational planning begins approximately two months prior to the mission.

Mission Details

The WWII mission consists of a pre-flight mission briefing, going over all of the objectives in a tactical briefing room setting, similar to how it was done during WWII. This is followed by taking off from Scottsdale Airport, near Phoenix, Arizona, and flying north to the Radome. Here, the pilots will attempt to take some digital reconnaissance images of the Radome as the main mission objective.

On the way to the Radome, the pilots have a chance to talk about the mission, the airplane, and all of the amazing views that can be captured in the deserts of Arizona. The pilots also talk about flight, aviation, and what it takes to fly the aircraft. Once at the Radome, the team takes photos to accomplish the mission.

Upon landing back at Scottsdale Airport, the mission team is greeted by the rest of the Hope from Above crew and animal avatar pilots. The flight team conducts a flight debrief in the same conference room as the pre-flight briefing, where the pilots discuss the mission parameters. Then the child pilot is presented with their customized bomber jacket as a result of a successful WWII mission.

The unforgettable experience is followed up with a forever friendship between the animal avatar pilot and the child pilot so they can always relive their flight and the friendship of their comrades in battle whenever they feel like reminiscing or just being a pilot again. The bond between pilots is strong, and our children pilots will always remember their animal squadron always on watch, providing that much-needed cover into enemy territory.
